Kickball

Yesterday, for P.E. our class played kickball. It is similar to baseball where players kick the ball to bat it, instead of using bats, making it more accessible to children. As in baseball, teams alternate innings with one team attempting to score by having its players circle the bases and the other team in the outfield working to stop runs from being scored. Players on the batting team kick an inflated rubber ball to advance players around the bases, and thus scoring runs.

Dance

Our 6th graders have begun their practice for the 6th grade dance! At the end of the year, they will put on a production for their parents that features around 20 different dances. They are still getting hang of all the moves, but here is a look into one of their practices.

 

Elements

Our students are learning about elements and are being introduced to the Periodic Table. They went on an element hunt to learn as much as they could about their specific element. With their information, they created a mini poster to teach the class about their element!

Outdoor Fun!

As you know, this past week was exceptionally HOT outside! As a fun way to end the week, our class played Drip, Drip, Slash. It is just like Duck, Duck, Goose, but with WATER! This game is great for hot days. Instead of touching the heads of those not picked, they have a little bit of water from a cup dropped on their head. The person who gets picked gets the rest of the cup poured on their head. The person who gets the cup poured on them, then chases the pourer around the circle. If the pourer makes it back to their seat safely without getting tagged, they are safe. If they do get tagged, they have to sit in the middle of the circle until someone else is tagged.
