Welcome to Room 303!
My goal is to provide a dynamic learning environment in which your child can achieve his or her highest potential. I realize that each student has different strengths, and I am committed to help each student use his or her strengths to be successful. Your child will have opportunities to work individually, in small groups, and as a whole group on a variety of engaging activities. I plan to provide a classroom that fosters student's curiosity and ensure students are successful. I will also help your child to learn that mistakes are an important part of the learning process.
I encourage each of you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress. In addition, bookmark this website to see blog posts, pictures, curriculum information and more. I am looking forward to working with you to make this a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Corinne Spinrod

Color Wheel
Today in art, we studied the color wheel. We reviewed our primary colors (Red, Blue, Yellow) and secondary colors (Purple, Green, Orange) and learned about intermediate colors (red-purple, red-orange, blue-purple, blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange). We also learned about cool colors, warm colors, and complimentary colors.
Blackout Poetry
Blackout Poetry is made by redacting the words in a text with a permanent marker, leaving behind only a few choice words to make a poem.

Dragonwings
This quarter our 6th graders have been reading the novel Dragonwings by Laurence Yep. Here is a look at our students answering Depth of Complexity questions. When we finish the book at the end of this week, they will be using all of their knowledge to create a Depth of Complexity book project.
Solar System
This week our 5th graders have been studying the Solar System. Each student was given a planet, moon, the sun, meteors, comets, or asteroids. They became the expert on their topic. They had to create a poster that they are going to share with the rest of the class.

Ancient Greece
Our 6th graders have been studying Ancient Greece the past few weeks. As part of the unit, we watched and read about Greek Mythology. The students were split up into two different groups. They were given a myth and from that myth they had to write a script and perform their myth. Here are our students practicing for their Greek plays!

March Book Madness
Our classroom is participating in March Book Madness! It is set up just like March Madness (college basketball tournament) but with books! March Book Madness is a bracket style tournament that lets students decide which books would beat each other in a head-to-head matchup. Today, our class filled out their brackets and hopefully it will get them interested in some books they never would have been before!
- Students are able to vote for their favorite books at www.marchbookmadness.weebly.com
- At the top click MG NOVEL BRACKET
- Then, they may begin voting!
