Wolves

This quarter, our 6th graders have started a unit about wolves. Our essential question is: How does information presented in different media or formats, as well as in words, help to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue?
To start off the unit, students were given five different pictures that depicted wolves. They had to CLOSE read the images. They annotated the images and wrote what the image was mainly about and what stood out to them.

This past week we read an article titled "A Brief History of Wolves in the United States." For this piece of text students had to CLOSE read it and annotate for different questions. They also wrote a response to the question: How doe wolves depend on others and others depend on them? They had to include evidence from the text (quotes, paraphrase) to support their responses.
