5th Grade P.E.

All California public school students in 5th, 7th, and 9th grade are required to take the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). That's US! We are starting to build our cardio endurance now because we will take the PFT in the spring. The FITNESSGRAM is composed of the following six fitness areas:
PACER (progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run)
Abdominal Strength and Endurance: Curl-Ups
Upper Body Strength and Endurance: Push-Ups
Body Composition: Body Mass Index
Trunk Extensor Strength and Flexibility: Trunk Lift
Flexibility: Back-Saver Sit and Reach

We started our endurance training with a relay race. Students had to do lunges from the blacktop to the end of the field, and then run back. Here they are cheering on their teammates!
